ABB Australia proudly presents the next chapter in our reconciliation journey

2017-03-29 - Having successfully launched and implemented our first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) in 2013, ABB Australia is pleased to launch our new Innovate RAP 2017 – 2018.

The Innovate RAP formalises ABB Australia’s commitment to reconciliation and outlines the practical steps we are taking to achieve greater awareness and inclusiveness across the organisation.

"Our vision is to build reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the broader community by building mutually respectful relationships," said ABB Australia Managing Director, Tauno Heinola.

"The reconciliation journey ABB Australia commenced in 2013 is very commendable. We can all be proud of the many ways our employees have embraced the learnings and actions that make up our Reconciliation Action Plan."

Our Innovate RAP for 2017 -2018 builds on the foundation of our existing commitment with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. We will continue to focus on three key areas:

  • building strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders peoples, communities and businesses
  • cultivating a deeper understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders cultures, histories and contemporary issues
  • increasing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders participation through employment and procurement opportunities.

Kirsty Taylor, ABB Australia’s RAP Program Manager, emphasises that the success of ABB’s Reconciliation Action Plan would not be possible without the passionate volunteers and their commitment to making a difference.

"Our commitment to reconciliation has involved many dedicated individuals who volunteer their time to work closely and build strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and communities," Kirsty said.

"Our internal RAP champions guide the various activities that transform the action plan from being words on paper to actions that make a difference to the growth and prosperity of all Australians."

"I trust our ABB Australia team will embrace our RAP, help fulfil the initiatives we have committed to achieve, and support our champions who help ensure the success of this important strategy," Tauno added.
