eBusiness is about speed, transparency and accessibility. ABB is delivering these benefits to Australian and New Zealand customers through the use of new technologies and business processes.
A central element in our eBusiness strategy is our logistics centre at Notting Hill in Victoria. This highly computerised, 2,200 square metre facility handles dispatch operations for our motors, drives, low voltage switchgear, and robotic systems businesses.
The logistics centre is fully integrated with our sophisticated electronic business systems, allowing us to handle up to 30 per cent more orders. Customers can now use the Internet to browse products, receive customised prices, request quotations and order products - at any time.
Orders are automatically directed to the logistic centre and often dispatched on the same day. Better still, many customers can receive confirmation of their orders in real time and can track the status of their order until complete. The logistics centre also makes it possible to dispatch equipment late at night and on weekends, if required.
We have also reduced the time it takes for Australian customers to receive equipment imported from Europe or elsewhere. This has been achieved by using eBusiness technology to streamline and accelerate ABB’s internal order processing and delivery operations, in many cases cutting delivery times by half or more.
